IN 2023
In 2023, the cereal output get the highest ever; the perennial crop
production developed stably; although the African swine fever broke
out in the last months of the year, livestock continued to recover and
develop. Forestry production faced difficulties due to reduced export
orders for wood products, decreased demand for raw wood, resulting in
a sharp decrease in timber exploitation. Fishery production faced
difficulties, exploitation of aquatic products in fishing grounds was
limited, lack of seafarers; aquaculture and farmed shrimp were affected
by diseases and died, resulted in a decrease in fishery output compared
to the previous year.
The total cereal production reached 30.6 thousand tons, a year-
on-year increase of 22.8%; of which: paddy production was 29.1
thousand tons, an increase of 23.65%; maize production was 14.6
thousand tons, up 8%. The area of perennial crops witnessed a relative
stability. In 2022, the weather was favorable, therefore the productivity
and production of most major perennial crops increased compared to the
previous year. Estimated production in 2023 was as follows: rubber
with 22,321.1 tons, up 1.58% over the previous year; pepper with
2,355.5 tons, up 16.77%; banana with 56,912.5 tons, up 2.94%;...
As of December 31, 2023, the buffalo population was estimated
to reach 21,281 heads, up 0.16% over the same period in 2022; the
cattle population reached 62,144 heads, an increase of 0.16%; the pig
population reached 212,058 heads, down 3.16%; poultry population
reached 4,021.3 thousand, up 3.79%; the production of livestock and
poultry live weight wa3s estimated to reach 59.4 thousand tons, a year-
on-year increase of 6.43%.
